All-On-4 Treatment Timeline
All-on-4 dental implants are an amazing dentistry procedure to help replace missing teeth and restore your oral function.
Consultation
During your initial consultation at our dental practice in Sun City West, AZ, your dentist will examine your mouth to determine if you are a good candidate for All-on-4 dental implants. We will also discuss your concerns and your goals.
Anesthetic
Before your treatment begins, your dentist will numb the area. For patients with dental fear or anxiety or for those needing a higher level of pain control, we offer sedation options to keep you completely comfortable during treatment.
Implant Placement
Four dental implants will be placed along the arch, directly into the jaw. Two of these implants will be inserted at a 45-degree angle to maximize your existing jawbone material.
Temporary Denture
In some cases, a temporary denture can be placed the same day as your dental implants. Your permanent denture is crafted at our on-site lab or at our trusted lab in Tempe, AZ.
Permanent Denture
Once your permanent denture is ready, your dentist will remove the temporary denture and secure the permanent denture to your implants.
Caring for Your New Smile
Caring for your implants and dentures is easy. Because the dentures are secured to the implants, you do not remove them as you would traditional dentures. Simply brush as normal with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Don’t forget to floss.
All-On-4 Recovery
In the days following implant placement, there are a few tips to keep in mind and make your recovery as easy as possible.
- Take your medications as prescribed. Over-the-counter pain medications will help reduce discomfort. Your dentist may prescribe other medications.
- Use ice packs on your cheeks to minimize swelling and discomfort.
- Eat a soft diet to reduce any irritation to the implant site. Choose foods like scrambled eggs, yogurt, smoothies, and applesauce.
- Keep your head elevated while you sleep. This can help reduce swelling and pain.
